From June 18–20, 2025, CPIP had the pleasure of participating in the European Basic Skills Network (EBSN) Annual Conference, held in Brussels under the theme “From Evidence to Action: Advancing Adult Basic Skills for Tackling Inequalities.” The event was organized in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Ligo – Centres for Adult Basic Education in Belgium.

The conference provided a dynamic platform for dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners committed to improving adult learning systems across Europe. With a strong focus on embedding basic skills into wider social, economic, and digital policy frameworks, the sessions addressed some of the most pressing challenges in adult education. CPIP contributed actively to two sessions:

• A panel discussion on “New Directions for Adult Skills”, offering insights into the evolving Union of Skills and the European Action Plan on Basic Skills.
• A parallel session on inclusive education for vulnerable groups, where we shared our work on learning behind bars. Under the LiberateSkills Pact, we showcased how learner-led outcomes and ecosystem-authored micro-credentials can empower correctional staff and support inmate education.

The event also highlighted best practices in upskilling, integration of digital competences, and inclusive strategies for adult learners, reinforcing CPIP’s commitment to building effective, inclusive, and future-oriented educational initiatives.
