One of the main goals of the SCAFFOLD Project  (101187336) is to bring together disadvantaged and “hard-to-reach” young people, helping them step outside their usual environments and discover new perspectives. By connecting with peers from different cultures through an immersive residential programme, they gain valuable exposure to European values and work toward a shared vision: creating a more sustainable future for all young people.

During 4-8 May 2026, all eyes were on SCAFFOLD in Miranda do Corvo 🇵🇹 where 2 representatives from CPIP – Centrul Pentru Promovarea Invatarii Permanente, together with 10 young people and 10 youth workers from 🇷🇴, joined an inspiring international residential experience.

Together with participants from Portugal and project partners, we collaborated, learned, and developed community-based sustainability initiatives rooted in inclusion, creativity, and teamwork. Throughout the week, we took part in experiential learning activities, intercultural exchanges, workshops, and outdoor challenges focused on sustainability, social innovation, and active participation.

Monday – Discovering Sustainability and Teamwork: The programme started with team-building activities and workshops focused on understanding sustainability challenges and community needs. Participants also visited the Ecumenical Temple in Miranda do Corvo, where they explored empathy, diversity, and different world perspectives through interactive activities.

Tuesday – Social Innovation and Creativity: Participants explored sustainable practices and social innovation at Parc Biológico da Serra da Lousã, discovering examples of eco-friendly production and community engagement. The day continued with creative workshops where teams designed ideas for local sustainability projects.

Wednesday – Nature, Culture, and Project Design: The group visited the Cascata d’Albarrol waterfall for a sound and visual storytelling activity focused on environmental awareness. Participants then developed concrete action research project ideas and ended the day with a cultural visit to Coimbra and a traditional Fado performance.

Thursday – Collaboration and Action: Through the “Tame the Mountain” activity in Serra da Lousã, participants strengthened teamwork and problem-solving skills while completing outdoor orientation challenges. Workshops later focused on planning inclusive and practical sustainability interventions for local communities.

Friday – Reflection and Future Steps: The final day included a visit to the Roman settlement of Conimbriga, encouraging participants to reflect on history, resilience, and sustainable planning. The programme concluded with evaluation sessions, project presentations, and a closing dinner celebrating the experience and the international friendships created during the mobility.

Through its participation in the SCAFFOLD project, Centrul Pentru Promovarea Invatarii Permanente continues to support lifelong learning, inclusion, youth participation, and sustainable community development through international cooperation and non-formal education.
